Janine has also graciously offered us a bunch of avatars for members and as soon as I figure out how to get them in the Base Gallery, we'll get them up.

That would also make a nice avatar. Btw, this boards scales larger images down until they have the right size. I just tried it, it just takes a while.

Most of the avvies I have made for another board are about 120x120 but I have taken 40 or so and rescaled them... but its good to know I can use them (or anyone who wants to) and have them done automatically.
Its a great function to use Fanarts as avvies, as you have done. I love yours.

I have a fabulous animated pic coming... just have to figure it out in Photobucket, for some reason it won't load to mine.
I did the artwork and arrangement, Viv animated it for me.

There are plenty of books on Photoshopping already available. You just need Photoshop and a little imagination and an obsession with someone like CP and away you go! Once you start, you never stop... there is always something new to learn.
I have recently started making my own brushes and frames to use in the fanarts so that's always fun as well. I am yet to master the art of animation, that's why I make the pix and then Viv animates them for me - but that is something I want to learn properly as well.
There's even a Photoshop Book for Dummies LOL I have that!

I guess we'd all love that. Of course I'd have to ask Jannine to write a book for Photoimpact too.
Unfortunatly even if Chris would agree to something like this, that wouldn't be very helpful. He doesn't own the rights of the photos. The copyright is usually held by the photografer and it's mostly pretty difficult to impossible to find out who that is or how to contact him or her. And while maybe some of them don't care what happens to the pics as long as you use them for non commercial matters, I'm pretty sure that there would be a lot of trouble coming as soon as somebody would try to use the pics in a book. Just think about all those fansites that had to be closed after the owners tried to get a little money by selling CDs (even happened to a Silk fansite), wallpapers or fanart.
So of course Jannine could still travel to Canada, get the permission of CP, make lots of nice pics and then write the book. That would probably work.
Okay, firstly - I don't know half of what Photoshop has to offer yet; I only began using it 5 months ago and there is still so much more to learn.
Secondly - that all sounds like a lot of hard work and making fanart of Chris is something I do purely for enjoyment and I'm happy to share my stuff with people who might like it - that just heightens my enjoyment.
As Carmen pointed - the legalities of something like that would be near to impossible to comprehend I'm sure, and it would surely detract from the pleasure I get out of doing what I do.

I'm once again flattered Gambit, but if you truly knew how much goes into this fanart (or doesn't go in lol) - you would laugh! Obviously animations take a little time - I am having lessons... but like anything, practice makes perfect and things become easier. Avatars and banners can take 5 mins depending on how fancy you want it.
Truly, a bit of imagination and a few brushes, a frame here and there and just knowing your way around Photoshop sees decent results. You can't do much wrong with a pic of Chris just quietly.

You're right. Original photos are a must for the project. What a book! For all the applications in one book. A compare and contrast thing. Now there's a new slant!

Thanks Jannine. It wasn't that I didn't like it but I kept trying to place the pictures and read the words but I guess I'm not coordinated enough. Some day I think I'll have time to learn how do do more with the computer.
