[font size=3] The fan reviews for the second season changes on Wild Card are mixed. These comments are based on the Lifetime board, so they're not all Potter fans.
Most everyone agrees that the first 2 episodes were convoluted, hard to follow the plot(s). Many, including myself, felt that tptb should have given a kinder send off to the characters who did not return. Most of the fans love "Dan" and "Zoey together. The fans are divided on the new boss, mostly because they loved RDC. Not all that many really miss "Marcos".

All that having been said...

The 3rd episode showed great promise. The script was better, there were some great Dan/Zoey moments, and as Pan pointed out, the technical aspects are much improved. They even managed to lower "Taylor's" voice an octave or so. }>
If the series survives the changes, Chris should have a chance to really show off his comedic talents. He's even getting some time with the kids, though I'm still not clear on how "Dan" got stuck baby sitting in this last episode.

I like a lot of the changes. For one thing, there's more CP time :9 and that's always a good thing. Someone said that they saw a little "Peter Caine" coming through, and I thought the very same thing. No angst, just that clever smile.
I'm hopeful that the new WC will find it's audience and will be around for a while. The potential is there. Now if Lifetime would just give Chris equal billing... x(

A lot of us didn't have a problem with the plots of the first two shows. I think there's just a possibility that some of the Lifetime audience is accustomed to being able to follow a story while talking on the phone or doing the bills or washing the dog. You can't do that anymore. You have to know the names of the characters and you have to listen to casual conversations to find out why Maguire Investigations now looks into more than insurance fraud and why M allowed the campaign to set up in her offices. If you really want convoluted, watch the reruns of Morse on BBC America.

Episode three was a little different - too simple. I guessed who the bad guy was within the first five minutes. And I knew for sure when we saw him at the hospital and they did the SECOND closeup of his hand for no apparent reason. It's not because I'm such a smarty pants. I'm just a TV and paperback mystery junkie. When I saw the closeups, I didn't even have to know why the guy arranged for the killing. (Did I ever find out why? I might have stopped paying attention when the show turned into a contest between me and the not-so-tricky clues given to us by the new writers...) What I mean to say is, the show's fun, but it's too bad about the formula writing.

Ya got me there, Pan :+ :+

Simple is good sometimes. So, I kinda watch the show while I'm taping it, then ff to CP segments. ;-) Works for me.
In truth, my feeling is that it took a couple of weeks for the show to get back into sync. Or, maybe it was my mood.

As for guessing who the bad guy was, it was a no brainer. Donnie Double D, of course.

DUH, Barb!
No wonder you can't follow the story lines. If you keep fast forwarding through the show, you won't get it all. Besides, you keep that up and we're going to banish you to the Ka-Bloomie board due to your sacrelegious behavior. Sit down with the dog and brush and cuddle said critter so we don't have to send you an ep with subtitles. :+

Morse isn't convoluted, Morse is subtle, with depth and breadth. And miles better than Wild Card, SS, KFTLC, and the US version of QAF. The UK version of QAF - first season only - held its own against Morse. But then, I was born over there and understand the accents.

I liked the plots. I usually do write checks, do laundry etc. while watching TV with WC being a rare exception, maybe that's why I followed it. I don't think the old characters needed a better send-off. In my opinion they were boring. I like the new show a lot better and I like the Moonlightling slant alot.

I also like this season better. The kids are far less annoying to me, mainly because we're seeing less of them, and when they do turn up, there's usually a reason.

The plots require the viewer to pay attention--something we're not used to on American TV. I haven't seen the Morse series but for convoluted or needing to pay close attention I can recommend Sapphire and Steel. That was a show where the writers *expected* the viewers to be paying full attention.

There's a nasty element on the Lifetime board. Don't really know why, except some people seem to enjoy tearing the show down. Maybe it's a jealousy thing too, because their *favorites* didn't return. Personally, I don't miss either character. I am, however, getting a bit cranky about M. She's too much. I know it's the writers, but I have to wonder how much of it is the actor, too. And the M and Zoe bonding was so forced. I'd rather see the friction than the fluffy.

I do agree with everyone here: CP is looking terrific--much better than last season. And it's great to see so much more of Dan in the story.

I watched part of last season and two of this season's episodes. I'm still waitning for the show to work for me. I just don't see the chemistry between Dan and Zoe. I keep waiting for it, but I don't get it. Anyone else feel this way??

I hope that they put Wildcard out on DVD. Chris looks absolutely amazing this season. What an incredibly beautiful man. He looks much better than he did in QAF, and better than Arachnid too. So we need a DVD release to get some really nice screen caps of that awesome face. (Well, we could use some more publicity photos. Chris really needs to be photographed more).

JG:
Would you settle for screencaps from each episode? Tami will no doubt put them up on her site each week.

Or maybe if I can clear my hard drive I could get some for you--and send you a monthly cd full of screencaps.

Just to be sure I wasn't misusing the word, I looked it up.

con?vo?lut?ed adj.
Having numerous overlapping coils or folds: a convoluted seashell.
Intricate; complicated: convoluted legal language; convoluted reasoning.

I'm going to stay with it (intricate and complicated). But, just so we know we're on the same page, girl, I loved Morse. We rejoiced whenever a new one came on Public Television. We watched the show with the closed captioning turned on, just to be sure we didn't miss anything. The final episode completely wrecked my week. :'(

Intricate and complicated I can go with - you make the show sound like a fine red wine wink.gif

I knew it! I knew it! You're a Fubabe of exquisite taste!

I read the book first, and when Lewis started sobbing on the steps, I was devastated. I liked the ending of the show better - Morse died on his feet. I've got a great deal of it on video, and still I miss that series.
