A few years ago some fans made music videos to clips of the Kung Fu: TLC series. I was just wondering if there is a list of what songs were used in those music videos. I had owned two or three of them and ended up selling them to another fan and now would like to hear these songs again. Can someone help me?
Thanks!

Mine had the following songs

"I Was Only Looking" by Gowan (aka Lawrence Gowan)
"Close to the Edit" by The Art of Noise
"Newborn Friend" by Seal
"This is Pop" (just one chorus) by XTC
"You'll Be With Me" by Gowan (aka Lawrence Gowan)

Emily,

I am the keeper of the "originals" of those music videos. Do you want a list of all 4 videos? Just a list of the songs, or are you interested in the videos themselves?

Hi Marge,

I might be interested in purchasing the videos - are you looking to sell them? What are they like? What is in them?

I don't know about the others, but "This is pop" is from XTC's first recording entitled "White Music" released in 1978 by Virgin records. It may very well be available on CD. There are some fun songs on it, mostly uptempo "new wave" stuff very much like "This is pop".

I met the band some years ago when they were touring the USA.

I got it from one of their greatest hit collections, but it looks like it's out of print.

As for the others, "I Was Only Looking" is only available on Gowan's debut album "Gowan". You can find it in Canadian online shops or on Ebay. Sadly his stuff isn't sold in the US anymore, though Amazon seems to be selling a few of his albums (for ridiculous sums of money).

"You'll Be With Me" is off of his last solo album titled "The Good Catches Up." There's also a nice live version on his live CD "Sololive." You can find them on Ebay or order them through Gowan.org. I'm not sure if these in the Canadian record shops. Sololive might be.

I took "Close to the Edit" off of Art of Noise's "Who's Afraid of...."

"Newborn Friend" is on Seal's second album "Seal 2".

The videos were "produced" by FuFans - people took songs they thought applied to KFTLC and then did screen capture recordings of "appropriate" clips from the series with the song as the background. Some of them are very well done - others were more amateurish...many different methods used to create them. They sent these video clips to Chicago Station Press, and they made a complilation video of all of the music videos. So - it's basically a 3rd (sometimes 4th or 5th) generation copy by the time you get it, so not always the best quality. But they are fun to watch. I think I have four full videos of different songs. It's kind of interesting to watch these, and then hear that song on the radio and the "meaning" has been totally changed in your head after watching and "attaching" it to FU (G). I.E. "Kung Fu Fighting", "Love will save the day...", "Endless Night", Monica's songs, etc., etc.

I charge the cost of a tape plus shipping...I'm not sure how much the shipping is right now, and I basically just get a good - but hopefully inexpensive tape to make the copy and that is what I charge you.

If anybody is interested. Tami made some more KFTLC-musicclips lately. You can find them if you go to downloads on www.fu-dragon.de.vu

Ok - my curiosity is still peaked! I would be interested in a tape of them. What is your email address?

Marge,

If you can contact me and Jeanne DeVore via e-mail at chicagostation@chicagostation.com, we might be able to transfer the originals to DVD and make them available to the fans through Chicago Station again.

Thanks,

Jan
Emily
Hi,

I really only want a list of the songs that are one all the videos. I don't need the videos themselves. If you want, please email them to me: emills47@hotmail.com

Thanks!
