Mine came last week, Liann. It tends to run through my head, even when the CD player's turned off. I'm driving my husband nutty.

(What can this mean?)

If you haven't caught it already, listen closely the the end of the SHAKIN' cut. Somebody should turn that into a sound byte (ahem, Margaret tongue.gif) if they haven't already.

Just out of curiosity, does your copy have the extra 15 minute track where Chris and David Carradine do a sort of impromptu medley of "Blues" songs interspersed with talking/joking?

Only the first batch (1000 was it?) of Tourmaline CDs had that extra track. (ie, It was a promotional thing meant to encourage people to purchase the CD before it was even shipped out). I don't recall if anyone ever said whether they sold all of that initial batch, but it would be interesting to know if Chris sold at least that many. (I presume that the amount of CDs chosen for the promotion represented the "break even" and maybe even the "we made enough profit so that it was at least worth recording" sales point. If it achieved that, then that makes it feasible for Chris to do another CD)

MY CD has a very short version of the Kung Fu Blues, but no talking and joking and no other bluesy numbers. :'( I'm not even sure that Chris sings anything on my Kung Fu cut - maybe the first line, but nothing else.

I hope you're right about the break-even thing. It'd be nice to know that over 1000 of them were sold.

sorry pan;:
i don't have the cd so no can do. but then someone (and believe me i have no idea who it was)put up a portion of the "blues" medley that jg referred to at either napster or gnutella last summer i think. so i have that portion but unfortnately it was cut off in the middle...

but hey if chris ever wants to cut that cd again with that cut on it--i'm in. i've just been balking because my understanding was that the cd has the short version on it.

guess this cd will be my next aquistation. oh and later today go see the site. you'll see why when you get there.

I think it might be a better idea to contact the CPOFC and see if they have any or know how to get any of the original 1000. Maybe somebody has a used one for sale...

Since those initial CDs are apparently all sold, and I presume the company has no intent to print up a new batch of CDs with the full length (15 min) version of that blues track, I doubt that anyone would make a big fuss about distributing an MP3 of the full version (or at least the excerpt that has been left off of newer CDs). I mean, it's not as if distributing that one track would negatively impact their sales any, since the company is no longer selling any product containing this item. But of course, on a purely legal basis, you would need permission from whomever holds distribution rights to it. Perhaps someone could try to contact someone from the record company that released his CD, and see about the feasibility of allowing fans to obtain that promotional material that is no longer available. The promotion is over and accomplished what it set out to do -- sell the first 1000 CDs -- and as far as I know, the company has no further plans for that promotional material. So, I can't see why anyone would say "no". If someone wants to do the legwork of securing permission, I'd be willing to make up the MP3 and see about putting it on my site for download.

I suppose that I should sell mine to someone. I have the full length version (although I didn't get one of the autographed ones). To be honest, I never listen to it. (The type of music Chris does just isn't my thing). But I just can't bear to part with the CD cover. That face is spectacular (although I would have liked his natural eye color better).

What a kindly offer!
I just wrote to Louise Mah to see if she knew who to talk to at Mag about getting permission.

(and btw, JG, you could always sell me your CD and keep the cover...I've already got one of those)

My brother also liked the CD cover.

On the Kung Fu Blues track, I think my favourite part was Carradine singing 'I'm Evil'. That and Carradine's long laugh.

This is what I get for assuming. I just went back to see who played lead guitar on Shakin' and it wasn't Chris. So...possibly he wasn't the one with bleeding fingers.

Damn. Except for the bleeding fingers part, of course. Had a sister who was a harpist. Wouldn't wish those on anybody.

[font color=blue]I always assumed it was Chris, too. It sounds like him to me. But then a lot of people assume it was John Lennon who yelled, "I got blisters on my fingers!" at the end of Helter Skelter when it was actually Ringo. Did CP play drums on that track, per chance?

It says he played guitar. Not lead guitar, just plain old guitar.

hmmm
