CP is scheduled to attend the Celebs for Kids charity event in August to raise funds for research in childhood lupus and arthritis. The event is held on Thursday and Friday of August 14th and 15th. The Golf Event, Sutton Event and River Rock Event are available if you can afford the packages listed on the website at http://www.celebsforkids.ca so these are mainly for sponsors. However, the After Party at the River Rock Casino and Resort on Friday, August 15th is opened to the public through ticket sales at http://www.ticketmaster.com, under Celebs for Kids, which offers the opportunity to meet the celebrities, food, some sponsored beverages and entertainment.

Once we heard about the event, we contacted the organizers. Although the website had been available for over a month ago because of the Launch Party on June 6th, the information for the general public was only made available to us a couple of days ago. Tickets went on sale as of Thursday, July 25th. We had asked about spectators at the golf event but the golf course that is booked for the event only allows players.

The list of celebrities continues to change due to availability so you may want to monitor it if there are others you would like to meet if you are attending. If you are also fans of some of the other celebrities, you may forward the Celebs for Kids URL to the other fan base websites and lists. This event may be offered annually due to the success of this one. The organizer of the golf event mentioned of the possibility of having spectators if another course is booked for next year.

The River Rock Casino Resort is about a 10-minute drive to and from the Vancouver Airport. Both of these places are actually in the city of Richmond but very close to Vancouver. There are a number of surrounding hotels in the area that may offer a lower rate than River Rock. With the greater Vancouver area planning for the Olympics, several venues are still under construction. A few of them have been completed and some of the older ones are being upgraded. The Vancouver skyline continues to evolve.

Finally, if you are seriously considering coming to the event, please send us a note on your attendance to lm@interchange.ubc.ca so we may forward any updates to you. We have requested from the organizer the possibility of having CP meet with his fans privately if schedule permits. The first priority of the celebrities is to the sponsors however but the organizer is willing to accept our request only if a fair amount of CP fans attend. We would like to make this happen for you and would like to hear from you no later than July 31st so that the organizer can fit us in the schedule.

Lastly, with CP's birthday the week after the event, if you have letters, cards or gifts to forward, we will try to pass them on to him if they arrive on time. Better yet, you may want to give it to him personally.
