Wow, so this is what happens when a 168 min miniseries is chopped down to a 2 hr (less commercials) movie. I knew the story, having seen the BBC offering, and I was still getting lost.

On the plus side--nice hair although there were times when Dan was looking a bit haggard. And the narration surprised me greatly. I was much happier with the ending of this one than the ending of the original. And I didn't miss the two characters who were totally cut from this version.

Yes, the hair was very good! I thought it was an interesting movie and an interesting character for Chris. The plot was believable and thought-provoking. As for looking haggard, he was trying to divert a disaster!
From what i've heard, this was a happier ending for Dan. I don't think I want to see the alternate ending, thank you. ( I always read the last pages of a book to make sure my hero is intact at the end before I bother to invest too much emotion in the character. )
It's very good to see Chris back in leading roles where he belongs.
