If you could cast Chris in any role on television or in your favorite movie, what role would you give him and why?
Jannine
I would have to bring Chris into Brothers and Sisters, purely because it is my favourite show at the moment and to add him to the cast would just about send me over the edge I reckon! laugh.gif

He could easily play Nora's younger lover....

Perhaps a friend of Kitty's who begins an affair with Sarah....

Not to mention Kevin's new love interest! wink.gif

I'd have him play Jack Bauer on 24. I love Action Hero Chris!

I would love to see Chris in a western-movie like "Open Range". You all know I am a big fan of Frank from "Lonesome Dove" and I think Chris fits perfectly into that kind of film. A western-epos co-starred by Kevin Costner filmed in the beautiful landscape of Canada, with some action-sequences, some funny moments and a lot of CP-screentime... *sigh* biggrin.gif

I'll be honest with all of you. I was VERY upset when they passed Chris over for the role of "Gambit" in the first X-Men movie. After doing the voice for so long, they wouldn't even consider him for the role. I thought that was decidely unfair so, I never went to see the movie. I guess my instincts were right on.

Alot of my friends felt the same way and they wouldn't go to see it either. He at least deserved the opportunity to audition for the part, if only as an acknowledgemwnt of his work on the animated series.

Could you just imagine Chris in tights? (Be still my beating heart!! Sigh!)

If I remember correctly Chris mentioned in one of his posts that he had in fact auditioned for X-Men, only to be told he was too old for the part!!!

Something in Battlestar Galactica. If not that, then 24.

Yes, he auditioned for the part of Cyclops and the funny thing is they called him to do so.

Cylon or Colonial? I think for me he'd have to be Colonial, but then again, we don't really know, do we?

Okay, first I'd like to see him focus on comedy. Not with monkeys or banal kid fare, but the kind of stuff he had fun with during KF:TLC. Like Wolfe or the Hugh Grantesque discomfort with certain women scenes or his sassy, smart alecky wise cracks. I'd like to see him relax, have fun and push it.

Frankly, (and here's were I get yelled at by everyone), I'm ready for him to really challenge himself again. ph34r.gif dry.gif I think the reason he was so dynamic in QAF was that he was uncomfortable. He was having to work beyond his comfort zone. This wasn't just another good-looking, 6 ft., WASP leading role and he couldn't just show up and read his lines competently. He had to make some tough choices and overcome his discomfort with the nudity and sexuality. So I'd like him to make a few choices based not on the money or the shooting location or the networking, but because he's passionate about the project and about his acting. He's certainly intelligent and educated enough to have handled his income well and should have the option of going for a role or two that causes butterflies in his stomach -- and in ours. And I think he could certainly take a strong, minor comedic character role, like Michael Keaton has done from time to time. I think it would do him and his career a lot of good -- and certainly brighten our days.

Okay, now everyone can commence to yell (quietly). wink.gif

By the way, Whitehowler, great thread! Thanks!

huh.gif (I gotta add the "Doh!" smilie to the list!) I completely forgot to answer the original question. I think he could do some wonderful off the wall stuff like Keaton's role in "Beetlejuice" or even something like Cary Grant's "Father Goose" or "Bringing Up Baby." I've been trying to think of some really good recent U.S. comedies, but I'm completely stymied (please, don't even suggest anything with Will Farrell or Adam Sandler). Oh, oh. One of the ones like "A Mighty Wind" or "For Your Consideration"! That kind of thing would be fantastic for him and with him! Even grabbing some small character and pushing it over the top like Bronson Pinchot did with Serge in the original "Beverly Hills Cop." I just want to see him go for it a la Depp and stop taking the safe roads. Can't you just see him playing some slightly psychotic street person like the guy from the old John Laroquette show (Got a buck?) or something like Burt Lancaster's Elmer Gantry or Hudsucker? Oooh, now I get goose bumps. tongue.gif

Caroyln, no yelling here! tongue.gif

I agree with you; it would be wonderful to see Chris in some really meaty roles. They don't have to be main character roles as you state - even a great cameo that really pushes him would be great.

You know how much I loved him in QAF and yes, I think you are right - he was out of his comfort zone and it really showed in his work. In Season 1 he was the only actor that really shone for me... fortunately for the show, I think it got better as time went on but Season 1 really belonged to Dr Dave.

I will have a think about some past roles that I can imagine him playing....

Really? Good thing he didn't get the job, Cyclops is one of my least favorite X-men.

Ok, my turn. I don't watch that much TV at the moment so I may miss some good shows, but I'd love to see him in Brothers & Sisters. That's a show I hope we get to see for a while longer and the current cast is ok too. Or as Carolyn suggested a good, intelligent comedy.
LInda_J
Carolyn,

I completely agree with you.

Some of the best actors have become that way by going outide the comfort zone. Michael Keaton was a good example; then look at Tom Hanks. If he'd stayed with things like Bosom Buddies, like Peter Scolari seemed to, he'd have stayed at the level of Peter Scolari. blink.gif

I think CP did some of that stretching beyond the comfort zone on KF:TLC (learning the fighting had to be a stretch at first) and again on QAF, and I'd love to see him in something really meaty. Even a great comedy would be interesting and very welcome. Some of what he did on both Silk and Wild Card showed more of his ability to show his comedic timing.

But it would be kind of a kick to see him on BSG, too. Either Cylon or Colonial. wink.gif
